She was born Aug. 20, 1931, in Stockdale, Texas, the older of two daughters to Dennis and Nina (Akin) Griffin. She was raised in San Antonio, Texas, where she graduated from high school. She married William “Bill” Willard Anderson on April 10, 1948, in Raymondville, Texas. He was a railroad worker, working for several railroad companies before starting with the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railroad Company in the early 1950’s in Spokane. He transferred to Wishram in 1954 where they lived until 1970. They then moved to Newark, Del., where she worked as a pharmaceutical quality control technician at Astra Zeneca Pharmaceuticals for 25 years retiring in 1996. After the death of her husband, she moved to The Dalles to be near family. In 2000, she moved with her family to Vancouver, Wash., and lived with her son, Don’s family. She enjoyed her family, being a homemaker, reading, gardening and southern cooking. She had been a volunteer at the Mid Columbia Medical Center and at the Glenwood Place Senior Assisted Living, in the gift shop. She is survived by her daughter, Shari and her husband, John Hedrick, Elkton, Md.; her son, Don and his wife, Cindy Anderson, Vancouver, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Justin, Lindy, Donovan, Johnny, Jordan, Casey and Danielle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill on Dec. 7, 1997; her son, Lynn, who was killed in combat action in Viet Nam on March 3, 1969 and her sister, Irlene, in 1976. Memorial services will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home on Thursday, April 15, 2004 at 11 a.m. with Rev. James Hazlett officiating.
