The Dalles Chronicle, December 24, 2003
     Arda Jean Anderson, 73, a resident of The Dalles, died Monday, Dec. 22, 
2003 at a local convalescent center.
     She was born in Quinter, Kansas, on Jan. 11, 1930, the 11th of 14 
children to Lovell and Lillian (Merklin) Anderson. The family moved to Oregon 
in 1935, and she was raised in Salem. She came to The Dalles in 1962. 
     She worked as an electronics sub-assembly person at the Columbia Gorge 
Center for a number of years. She enjoyed needlework, stuffed animals, and 
singing. She attended church at the Life in Christ Center and loved the music 
there.
     Survivors include her twin sister, June Brown, The Dalles; sisters Rubye 
Gilkerson and Naomi Orcutt, Hood River; and Rosalie Tibbles, Keizer. Also 
surviving are two brothers, Sam Anderson, Eugene; and Larry Anderson, Lake 
Havasu, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 
her parents and by one brother and five sisters.
     No public services will be held; the family will observe private 
ceremonies of remembrance. 
     Arrangements are by Columbia Cremation & Burial. Memorial contributions 
may be made to the Columbia Gorge Center or to Special Olympics, c/o Columbia 
Cremation & Burial, 1012 Trevitt Street, The Dalles, OR 97058.
