She was born on Aug. 19, 1932 in Denlow, Mo., to James Howard Proctor and Lola Alice (Upshaw) Proctor. She grew up in the Ozark Mountains of Douglas County, Mo., and graduated from Fairview School in Drury. She married Elza McDonald Alsup on Aug. 10, 1951, in Muskateen, Iowa. In 1963, she moved with her family to Sandy. She was a former resident of Moro until moving to The Dalles in 1994. She was a homemaker and was employed for many years at the Branding Iron Restaurant in Moro. She attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in The Dalles. She enjoyed her family, crocheting, quilting, gardening and listening to country music. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Virgil, Vasel, Chalmer and Elmer; a sister Arlene Brixey; a son, Johnny Alsup; a grandson, Dennis Alsup; and a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Buffington. She is survived by sons Jasper Alsup, Mosier; Jeffrey Alsup, Wasco; Jesse D. Alsup, The Dalles; and Joel Alsup, Vale; a daughter, Cheyenne Stermon, The Dalles; grandchildren Shannon Buffington, Troutdale; Brian Stermon, Mosier; Jesse M. Alsup, Moro; Zachary Simonson, Oregon City; Dineh Alsup, Wasco; Trevor Alsup, Vale; great-grandchildren Mikayla and Brandon Buffington, Troutdale; sisters Bertha Hodge, Sandy; Nola Roper, Sandy; Nadine Page, Wasco; Geneva Heinemann, Wasco; Virginia Jacobs, Springfield, Mo.; Alice Glascock, Cincinnati, Iowa; other relatives and friends. Private cremation took place earlier. A grave-side service at the Moro Cemetery will be held at a later date. Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home is in care of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Gorge, Sherman County Museum, or c/o Cheyenne Stermon, 901 W. 11th, The Dalles, OR 97058.
