     Robert Paul Allen, 77, a resident of The Dalles, died at a Portland 
hospital Monday, May 2, 2005. 
     He was born May 25, 1927, in Spokane, Wash., the youngest of three 
children to Paul and Dorothy (Daly) Allen. He grew up and attended schools in 
Camas, Wash. 
     He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was stationed near 
Frankfurt, Germany. 
     He worked for the paper mill in Camas and worked for other paper mills 
primarily on the West Coast. He retired as mill superintendent after 30 years 
of combined work in the paper mill industry. He also owned and operated the 
Thunderbird Motel in Pasco, Wash., and Ocean Park Motel in Manzanita, retiring 
in 1992. He moved to The Dalles in 1996. 
     He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and woodworking. 
     He is survived by his daughters, Donna Thomas, McMinnville; and Bonnie 
Irby, Arlington; his sons, David Allen, Independence, Mo.; Dan Allen, 
Corvallis; and Michael Allen, Simi Valley, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-
grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and his brother, James Allen, Bend. 
     He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Dorothy V. Allen, in 
September 1993; his daughter, Linda Sue Braswell and his granddaughter, Amy, 
in November 1969, and his brother, Roy Allen. 
     Viewing visitation will be held at Smith Callaway Chapel from 9 a.m. to 
10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 7. 
     Funeral services will be held at Smith Callaway Chapel at 11 a.m. on 
Saturday, May 7, with David Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Camas 
Cemetery in Camas, Wash.
