She was born Oct. 30, 1914 at Juniper Flats, the fourth of eleven children for Elmer and Ada (Miller) Snodgrass. She went through school in Maupin and then with the help of family got a teacher’s certificate from Oregon Normal School (now known as Western Oregon University). Her first school was Bakeoven School, which has since been moved to Shaniko as part of the historic buildings there. In those days, female teachers were supposed to be unmarried, therefore she and her husband, Charles Albright, whom she married in Kelso, Wash., in November 1935, kept their marriage a secret until the end of the school year. She retired from teaching in 1976 after 30 years with Maupin Elementary School. Throughout her life she was an avid card player and belonged to several party and duplicate groups over the years. When she moved to Madras in 1989 she played bridge and pinochle as often as she could find a game. Survivors include her children, Stephen Albright, Billings, Mt.; and Cindia Schmidt, Madras; a brother, Dick Snodgrass, Madras; sisters, Sandra Woodside, Maupin; Sidna Fargher, Redondo Beach, Calif. and Beverly Holste, Maupin; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her husband, Charles, died on Dec. 16, 1987. Final disposition was a private family service at The Dalles IOOF Cemetery. Funeral service information will be announced at a later date. Memorials may be made to Mt. View Hospice or Mt. View Hospital. Bel-Air Colonial Funeral Home of Madras was in care of arrangements.
