     Ruth Mary Akerill, 90, died Aug. 2, 2005. 
     She was born March 8, 1915, in Biggs, Calif., to William and Edna 
(Hylton) Markgraf. She was the fourth of nine children.
     She married Merle Akerill on April 6, 1935, in Goldendale. They made 
their home in Glenwood, where they owned a service station and she worked in 
the school cafeteria for many years. 
     In 1967 they moved to Stevenson, where she worked in many restaurants 
before retiring. After her husband’s death in 1984, she moved to Portland, 
with her daughter, Patti. In 2000, she came to live in The Dalles, at Mill 
Creek Point, where she was the fifth resident. There she made many friends, 
including Betty Jeremiah. 
     She enjoyed spending time with her family, baking, crocheting and playing 
bingo.
     She is survived by her daughters, Patti Watson and Kathy Cooper, son 
Robert Akerill Sr., and daughter-in-law Clariece; 11 grandchildren and 17 
great grandchildren; sister Edith Warner and many nieces and nephews. 
     She was preceded in death by her husband Merle, her parents and many 
siblings. 
     A graveside service was held Aug. 6 at Mt. Adams Cemetery in Glenwood.    
Her grandson, Rob Akerill, officiated. Gardner Funeral Home handled
