"Blind Baggage" Passenger Hurt In Wreck Is Sent To Salem
La Grande,Or.Oct.11.-(Special)- The man giving his name as W.O.Miller,who was 
seriously injured in the wreck a few miles east of La Grande a few days 
ago,when the tender baggage and mail coaches of the east bound passenger was 
derailed,was taen to Salem last night,as his mind is still unbalanced.The 
passenger coaches of the train were not derailed,but unfortunately, this man 
was riding the blind baggage, and was severely crushed about the head.
Miller has been rational for only a few moments at a time, but during the 
times when he seems unconscious to his surroundings he writes the Pittman 
system of shorthand perfectly and raidly, uses the best of language and shows 
good education. How he came so down in life is unknown as most of his past 
seems a blank to him.He says he has been connected with some of the leading 
Pacific Coast papers.
