New Era Mill Man and Pioneer Dies at Age 77
Funeral services for Joseph Svecik,Resident of New Era for 35 years,Hel dToday 
from Family Home
Joseph Svecik,pioneer millwright of New Era,who has operated a flouring mill 
on Parrott Creek for the past 35 years,died at the family home Monday 
evening.he was born in Bohemia 77 years ago.For 61 years he has resided in 
America,the last 35 years in New Era.
Mr Sveciks wife died some time ago,but the children surviving are;Joe and 
Anton Svecik of New Era;Mrs Strejic of Portlnd;Wesley Svecik of Beaver 
Creek;Mrs Annie Dallas,New Era;Mrs Josephine Anderson and Mrs Julia 
Meyers,Beaverton;two brothers,one of whom resides in Newberg,and the other in 
Iowa.
The funeral services were held at 1 o'clock this afternoon at the family home 
in New Era.Judge Gordon E Hayes of Oregon City,an old time friend of Mr 
Svecik,had charge of the services.Internment was in Zion Cemetary near Canby
