Although for some years afflicted with a fearfully painfull malady she bore the sufferings with taht calm and courageous spirirt which was so manifest in the long and tedious journey across the trackless plains, and in the sad accident which deprived her of her second son in the rapids of the Columbia while making the perilous descent of that river in boats, and in the subsequet years of toil and privation which was the lot of early pioneers. She was the mother of twelve children, seven of whom, with the aged father, remain to mourn her departure. Firm and faithful always in her adherence to right and duty she was the possessor of that rare spirit which scorns to give offense, and none leave us whose departure is more sincerely mourned by those who know them best.hers was truly a life of noble purpose and thrilling incident, embittered by pain which was made more tolerable by the sincere sympathy of those she loved and by the consciousness of duty done.Mother,farewell.Though your dear face is withdrawn from us forever,we trust that beyond the gates of a brighter land, free from suffering, you enjoy in its fullness the reward of a pure and noble life Ashland,July 12,1882 File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/or/statewide/obits/m/miller2907gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/orfiles/ File size: 2.3 Kb
