Mrs W.S Gribble's father Passes Away In California
Mrs W.S Gribble has just received word of the death of her father,Mr C.C. 
Hobart,of Pasadena,Calif.,Mr Hobart passed his 95th birthday ,November 
2,1923,in a cheery sunlit room banked with flowers sent and brought by his 
myriad of friends,many of them members of the masonic order to which Mr Hobart 
has belonged for more than sixty five years.he joined the Masons in 
Newport,maine,and in 1857 transferred to Bangor.he was the oldest surviving 
member of wither of these lodges.An interesting incident is the fact that 
Hannibal Hamlin,vice president to President Lincoln in his first term,was one 
of the members who gave Mr Hobart his initiation.A number of years later he 
transferred his affiliations to The Dalles,Oregon,where he has since been a 
member 
Before retiring Mr Hobart was a locomotive builder,and knew the history of the 
great mechanical empire maker from the time it was laughing stock of 
mechanical engineers,until the present day fulfillment of its mighty 
mission.Old time railroad men allover the United States knew him well;and he 
was especially known and loved by the old timers of the Oregon,Railroad and 
Navigation Company.to which he gave his remarkable services for so many 
years.Mr Hobart's remains will be taken to The Dalles,for burial beside his 
wife who preceeded him more than twenty years ago.Funeral services to be held 
Sunday December 16th,conducted by the Masonic order of that place.
