She suffered a paralytic stroek two years ago,but bythe use of a cane,she was abe to get around until three weeks before her death,when she was prostrated by a second stroke,from whhich she never recovered. She was a daughter of Wiliam Garwood and a native of Indiana.Born October 6,1837,she was 55 years,4 month and 20 days.When but a girl her parents moved to Missouri,where they resided for a fewe years.They crossed the plains in 1850 and settled on the Willamette Rver at a point where now stands that portion of Portland known as Albina.The family afterward moved to a farm near Hillsboro,where the daughter,Jane, was married to A.J.Langworthy,a pioneer of 47,who survives her.They lived in ifferent parts of the state until a few ears ago,when they moved to Portland.She was the mother of nine children,four of whom are still living-Mrs. Nessly,Mrs.Lee,Mrs.Boyce, and Dr.Langworthy ,all of Portland.
