Mystery Surrounds Drowning
Astoria,Or.,Nov 2-(Special)-John K.Hill, fisherman,who made his home here and 
at Clifton,was drowned near the latter place yesterday,but whether the 
drowning was accidental or was a case of suicide has not been determined.Hill 
operated a number of setnets in the river,and left Clifton at 4 o'clock 
yesterday morning in a small skiff to attend them.Soon afterwrd his skiff was 
found adrift,and on the seat was an poen purse containing a small amount of 
money.Search was immediately commenced,resulting in finding the bod early this 
morning near the nets.
There were no marks on the body and many believe he accidenatlly fell 
overboard while at work.The mystery surrounding the case is why the purse was 
left in the boat.The remians were brought to this city tonight.The deceased 
was a native of Norway,59 years of age,and ha  lived iin this vicinty  about 
20 years.He left a widow,and one son living in Norway and three sons who are 
residents of Astoria
