Morning Oregonian october 16,1904
Comes Here To Live and Die- Mrs.J.G.Haskins, aged 72 years, died early 
yesterdday morning at the Lincoln,Eleventh and Morrison streets of acute 
bronchitis.Mrs.Hakins, accompanied by her husband, arrived in Portland just 
nine days ago from Des Moines,Ia., with the intent of living in this city. 
Arrangements for the funeral have not yet been completed, but it will be held 
Tuesday atfernoon at 3 o'clock,probably from the First Prebyterian 
Church,Rev.Edgar P.Hill will officiate. The internment will be in Riverview 
Cemetery. Mrs.Haskin is survived by her husband and one daughteer, Mrs. 
C.A.Howell, of this city. Mr.Howell of the Howell Shingle Company at Skamowaa 
arrived in Portland about six months ago being interested in a big shingle 
mill on the Columbia. Mrs.Haskins was born in Charleston,N.H., and had been a 
lifelong member of the presbyterian Church.Mr.Haskins, until the time of his 
departure to Oregon, was a well known banker of Des Moines
