Grothjean of 2321 W. W. Sheffield avenue, will be held Tuesday at 3:30 P. M. in the chapel of J. P. Finley & Son. Rev. Harry Hoatze will officiate. Miss Grothjean, a Portland artist, died early Sunday in the Columbia nursing home. She had been ill for several years. Miss Grothjean was well known for her marine oil paintings, receiving special recognition for this work at the 1915 Paris exposition. She traveled extensively in Europe to study art and had studios in Paris, Denmark and New York. She devoted the last years of her life to a project begun by her brother, the late Edward Grothjean, showing new citizens the principles for which America stands. As a result of her work, framed posters outlining his ideas now hang in city schools and also are given to newly naturalized citizens. Miss Grothjean is survived by a sister, Miss Louise E. Grothjean of this city. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/or/multnomah/obits/g/grothjea90gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/orfiles/ File size: 1.6 Kb
