All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/or/orfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sheron Faynor nitwittwin@hotmail.com December 30, 2007, 3:27 pm Mornign Oregonian November 13,1904 The Late Mrs.Mary M.C.Belcher Mrs.Mary C.Belcher,whose sdden death in Seattle recently shocked and grieved a wide circle of friends and acquaintances in Portland,as well as throughout Eastern Washington,was a woman of artistic nature and strong character.She was a pioneer of the Pacific Northwest,having passed the greater part of her life on the Coast.She fully appreciated its beauties,and enjoyed to the utmost the raw development of its resources.Mrs.Belcher was a woman of artistic and literary tastes,having beenin late years busy much of the time with her pen and brush.She conducted,under the name of Mary C.Bell,several years ago,a woman's column in the Sunday Oregonian,contributing thereto many bright and beautiful thoughts.Her funeral occurred Friday afternoon last week from the home of her daughter,Mrs.John H.Hall,in this city.With tender eulogy and tears,her body was borne to it last repose in Riverview Cemetary,a bank of exquisite memorial flowers marking the place of internment,from which the sorowing husband,daughteer and friends reluctantly turned away.
