Thomas Hopwood, a pioneer of Southern Oregon, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. General Ross, near Jacksonville, Saturday, Sept. 3. Mr. Hopwood came to Jackson county in 1852, and has resided here continuously since. He was in his 89th year and leaves a large family of children, who have married and settled in this county. Transcriber's note: According to the Jacksonville Cemetery Index, Thomas Hopwood's middle name was Bradford, DOB 14 Sep 1803, DOD 2 Sep 1892. He is listed with Elizabeth Peach Hopwood, YOB 1807, DOD 16 Dec 1869.
