N. Wells, superintendent of the Jackson County poor farm, passed away at that place at 6 p.m., Wednesday evening, July 6, as the result of a gun shot wound inflicted Tuesday morning. He was aged 51 years, 5 months and 20 days. Mr. Wells was born at Centerville, Iowa, in the year 1869. In 1907 he, with his wife and daughter, came to Jackson County, Oregon, where they have since resided, and has served as superintendent of the county farm for the past seven years. He was a man of unusual kindness and a friend of all with whom he had become acquainted. He leaves, besides the widow, one daughter, Mrs. Edna Beeson of Talent, two brothers in Iowa and one sister, Penceilla Wells, who was with him when the end came. Funeral services will be held at the M. E. Church at Talent of which he was a member, Friday, July 8 at [-?-] p.m., Rev. W. W. Phelps officiating. Interment in Talent cemetery.
