Joseph W. Ward passed away at the home of his niece, Mrs. C. T. Landing, two 
miles south of Phoenix early this morning at the age of 72 years. Mr. Ward 
came to Jackson County from Burns, Oregon, about eight years ago. He is 
survived by the following six children: W. E., Grover, Herbert, and Alonzo 
Ward, all of Klamath county; Mrs. Edward Howard and Elijah Ward of Burns, 
Oregon. Funeral arrangements in charge of Conger Funeral Parlors await the 
arrival of the children and will be announced later.

Medford (Oregon) Mail Tribune, Sunday, 7 Apr 1929, p. 8, c. 2: Funeral 
services for Joseph W. Ward, who passed away at the home of Mr. and Mrs. 
Landing near Phoenix early Thursday morning at the age of 68 years, will be 
held at the Conger Funeral chapel at 2 p. m. Monday. Rev. Raymond S. Rees will 
be in charge and interment will be in Mountain View cemetery at Ashland.
