Arrangements are in charge of Conger-Morris Funeral Parlors and a complete obituary will be published later. Medford (Oregon) Mail Tribune, Monday, 8 Dec 1947, p. 9 Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jane Swinden, 84, of Jacksonville, who passed away Saturday, will be held in the Conger-Morris chapel Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. D. E. Millard officiating. Interment will be in the family plot in the Gold Hill cemetery. Mrs. Swinden, a daughter of Austin and Rebecca Knotts, who came to Oregon by ox-team in 1852 from Ohio, was born in Eolla September 14, 1863. She came to Gold Hill at the age of six. She was united in marriage to Robert F. Swinden in 1879. Following his death in 1907 she moved to Medford, and for the past 27 years has made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Floyd Pence. Also surviving is another daughter, Mrs. Edward Rhoten, Jacksonville; a sister, Mrs. Anna Higinbotham, Roseburg, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
