A. Smith, near Ruch, at 12:30 Monday. Mrs. Smith was born in Peoria county, Illinois, April 2, 1849 and in 1851 when at the age of two years she, with her parents, crossed the plains by ox team to Oregon and first settled in the Willamette valley, where they resided but a few years then moved to Southern Oregon and Mrs. Smith has resided in Jackson and Josephine counties for nearly seventy years. Her husband, Elija Smith passed away 20 years ago. She leaves four children, Joseph A. Smith, San Francisco; Mrs. T. A. Stevens, Eagle Point, Ore.; Lillie McDonough and Ed A. Smith of Ruch. Also one sister and two brothers, Louisa Ray and William Smith of Ruch and Alex Enyart of North Bend, Ore. Funeral services will be held at the grave in Log Town cemetery near Ruch, at 2 p. m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Raymond S. Rees. Conger Funeral parlors in charge of arrangements.
