Sears died at his apartment in the Holland hotel January 31, after a short illness from heart trouble. He was born at Rock Island, Ill., January 1, 1872. Dr. Sears was a graduate of Hannaman Homeopathic Medical college of Chicago, graduating in 1905, was a member of the Masonic organization of Chicago, member of the Spanish War Veterans, and the Colonel Sargent Camp No. 23, Department of Oregon. He enlisted April 26, 1898 in company A, Sixth Illinois Volunteer infantry and was discharged February 28, 1899 at Utawada, Porto Rica [sic] Islands. He had been a practicing physician for 18 years in Oregon. Dr. Sears leaves two brothers, C. B. Sears of Portland, Ore., and Will Sears of Berkeley, Cal. Funeral services will be held at the Perl Funeral home Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., Rev. T. L. Thuemler of the Col. Sargent Post officiating, and the post will have complete charge of burial services.
