Services for Thomas R. Rice, 56, who passed away at the family home in Sams 
Valley Wednesday, will be held in the Conger-Morris chapel Monday at 1:30 p.m. 
with the Rev. Harry Hansen officiating. Interment will be in the Sams Valley 
cemetery.
Mr. Rice was born May 19, 1891, in Adin, Calif., coming from there to the Sams 
Valley community in 1936. He owned and operated the Holcomb Mineral Springs 
from 1936 to 1947, when he sold it and moved onto his farm. He was united in 
marriage to Leora Smith on January 28, 1942, in Grants Pass. 
Surviving besides his widow are a son, Charles, Eugene; a daughter, Mrs. 
Dorothy Nash, McCloud, Calif.; his mother, Mrs. Emma Bennett, Adin, Calif.; 
three brothers, Frank and Ross Bennett, both of Springfield, Ore., Ivyl 
Bennett, Adin, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Frances Collins, Happy Camp, Calif., and 
three grandchildren.
