Rice, 56, who passed away at the family home in Sam's Valley Wednesday, will be held in the Conger-Morris chapel Monday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Harry Hansen officiating. Interment will be in the Sam's Valley cemetery. Mr. Rice was born May 19, 1891, in Adin, Calif., coming from there to the Sam's Valley community in 1936. He owned and operated the Holcomb Mineral Springs from 1936 to 1947, when he sold it and moved onto his farm. He was united in marriage to Leora Smith on January 28, 1942, in Grant's Pass. Surviving besides his widow, are a son, Charles, Eugene; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Nash, McCloud, Calif.; his mother, Mrs. Emma Bennett, Adin, Calif.; three brothers, Frank and Ross Bennett, both of Springfield, Ore., Ivyl Bennett, Adin, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Frances Collins, Happy Camp, Calif., and three grandchildren.
