Josephine Rhoten passed away at her home in Hilt, Calif., after a lingering 
illness of over a year. Mrs. Rhoten had been a resident of Jackson County 
nearly all her life, residing in the Applegate district most of the time, 
where she was very highly respected by every one. About a year ago because of 
ill health she moved to Hilt, Calif. At the time of her death Mrs. Rhoten was 
63 years, four months and 24 days old. She was born in Oregon March 15, 1861. 
Deceased was married to Mr. Ford who has passed on. Thirty-eight years ago she 
was married again to Abraham L. Rhoten. She leaves to mourn her loss her 
husband, Abraham L., two daughters and three sons: Mrs. Sara Barrett of 
Yakima, Wash., Mrs. Josie Offenbacher of Hilt, Calif., Wilbur Ford of Yakima, 
Wash., Archie Rhoten of Hilt, Calif., and six grandchildren. Remains are at 
the Perl Funeral home. Funeral services and interment will be at the Log Town 
cemetery near Ruch, Sunday at 2 p. m.
