Ray was born Nov. 12, 1875 at Eola, Polk County, Oregon, and died in Medford, Oregon on December 5, 1906. In the year of 1879 with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Ray, he moved to Douglas county, Or., where he enjoyed a large circle of friends and acquaintances until 1899, when he moved to Medford. During his stay here he was engaged in various kinds of business and was always upright and honorable in all of his dealings with his fellowmen. At an early age he united with the Methodist Episcopal church, to which he gave faithful service. December 4, 1903, he was married to Lillie D. Starr at San Diego, California. He leaves to mourn their loss a wife, father, mother and two sisters, Mrs. N. H. Marcy of Medford and Mrs. J. A Shively, of Ashland. He was a dutiful son and a kind and loving husband. He died as he had lived, a good man. During his long illness he was patient and ready to go when his Savior said, “Well done good and faithful servant enter thou into the joys of thy rest.” He was a member of Banner Lodge, No. 13, of T. F. B., of camp No. 7242, at Pasadena, California, and of Talisman Lodge, No. 31, K. of P., the members of which last named lodge conduc[t]ed the funeral services. His death was the results of an internal injury. We wish to extend thanks to our neighbors and friends who so kindly assisted us in the last illness and demise of our loved one, also to the fraternal orders of which he was a member, especially to the members of Talisman Lodge K. of P., for their prompt and never ceasing brotherly love. --Mrs. A.
