The deceased has been a resident of this city for many years and is well known throughout the county. The exact date of his death is not known but it is supposed that the end came last Saturday. He was in the city Saturday doing some shopping and the neighbors noticed him carrying a small sack containing a few eatables. He was not seen by the neighbors Sunday and on Monday someone went to see the old gentleman, thinking that he might be sick, as he lives alone in a small house in the outskirts of the city. When the neighbors arrived they found him lying on a cot dead, the found the small sack containing the groceries on the floor apparently untouched, and from this it is thought that death occurred on Saturday from heart trouble. He was laid to rest in the Jacksonville cemetery at 4:30 o'clock Tuesday.
