Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Briscoe, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Ragsdale and family, Mrs. S. E. Allbright RAGSDALE, Samantha Jane (Winters), Medford (Oregon) Mail Tribune, Thursday, 12 April 1923 -- There died April 7, 1923 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Briscoe, on South Peach street, Mrs. Samantha Jane Ragsdale, after an illness of over four years, all this time being tenderly cared for by her loving daughter. Mrs. Ragsdale was born in Benton county, Oregon, Oct. 24, 1850, of pioneer parents, being the oldest daughter of John F. Winters and Jane Davis, they having come to Oregon by way of the southern route in 1847. Mrs. Ragsdale was connected with many pioneer families, including the Hendricks of Lane county, Helmicks of Polk county, Shuck, Haines, Hagy, Parrots of Washington county. Those of her immediate family left are her daughter, Mrs. James Brisco of Medford, Jene L. Ragsdale of Trail, Ore., one son. Her eldest son, Benjamin, passed away several years ago. Also one daughter, Mary, passed away at the age of eleven years. There also remain nine grandsons, one granddaughter and one sister, Mrs. Ellen Albright of Beekman Ave., Medford. The burial takes place in the Antioch cemetery, Rev. Mr. Leach of the Baptist church officiating.
