All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/or/orfiles.htm ********************************************************************************* Transcribed and formatted for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Elizabeth ************************************************************************ PENNY, Louisa (Myers), Medford (Oregon) Mail Tribune, Thursday, 15 Oct 1936 -- Louisa Penny, resident of southern Oregon for the past 69 years, passed away at home south of Phoenix, Ore., on the Pacific highway, Wednesday morning at 10:30 after a four months' illness at the age of 90. Mrs. Penny was an early pioneer, crossing the plains with her parents in 1864 from Missouri in horse-drawn wagons. The only trouble encountered on the trip was when the horses stampeded and were gone 15 days. Finally all were caught and the journey resumed. They reached Walla Walla, Wash., some time in September 1864. She was united in marriage to Thomas Jackson at Walla Walla, Wash., in 1865; he passed away in 1885. She later met and married Stephen Penny at Klamath Falls in 1902; he passed away in 1927. She leaves one sister, Mrs. Laura Dias, and one brother, George R. Myers, both of Central Point. Funeral services will be held at the graveside in the Central Point cemetery, Friday at 2 p.m., Rev. Oscar G. Gibson officiating. Perl Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
