NEIL DIES CHRISTMAS Jesse Leander Neil, pioneer resident of southern Oregon, died from a heart attack early Christmas morning at his home, the old Neil ranch south of Ashland. He was 86 years of age. Mr. Neil was the son of Leander Neil, who was prominent in southern Oregon as a stockman before his death, having owned a large stock ranch in the Dead Indian district. With his brother, the late Elmo Neil, Jesse inherited the home ranch at his father's death, and had been operating it many years. He leaves his wife, Kathryn, and a small daughter, Joan Augusta, but no other close relatives in southern Oregon. His two sisters, Angie and Edna of New York, now married, are well known in Ashland. Funeral services will be conducted at Ashland Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Will Dodge chapel. B. P. O. Elks lodge, of which Mr. Neil was a member, will be in charge.
