A. S. Moon, of Gold Hill, the founder and formerly a resident of the small town of Moonville, in Sams Valley, met with an accident at Gold Hill Wednesday, which caused his death a few hours later. He was loading a wagon with lumber taken from a box car, when his team became frightened at a switch engine and started to run. In making an effort to hold the horses by the bits, he was thrown under their feet and the heavily loaded wagon passed over his chest, crushing him and injuring him internally. He became conscious only a couple of hours before death and suffered intensely. His remains will be interred in the Moonville cemetery Friday afternoon, April 20th.
