Mee, native son and pioneer of Jackson county, born on the home farm at Applegate, June 15, 1868, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. D. Lewis, 1704 East Main street, at 5:55 p.m. Thursday. He was 71 years of age. He resided at the place of his birth practically all of his life. At the age of 20 he engaged in the sawmill business on Thompson creek. He was also in the sawmill business in Grant's Pass for a time. In 1900, with his brother and father, he moved the sawmill to Hilt, Calif., and operated there for five years. He then moved back to the farm on Thompson creek, where he resided the rest of his life. Mr. Mee was united in marriage in February, 1894, to Effie B. Hesselgrave, who survives him. To this union nine children were born, all of whom survive: Thomas, Warren and Eugene Mee and Mrs. Harry Brown, all of Applegate; Charles Mee, Mrs. Douglas Smith, Margaret Kaiser, and Mrs. A. D. Lewis, Jr., all of Medford, and Frank Mee of Ashland; also one sister, Mrs. J. H. White, Medford, and 13 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. D. E. Millard at the Conger chapel at 2 p.m. Monday. Interment in the Masonic cemetery at Grant's Pass.
