McDowell, 61, of 211 Fifth street, Phoenix, died today while at work. Funeral arrangements are in care of Conger-Morris funeral home. Medford (Oregon) Mail Tribune, Tuesday, 21 Aug 1951, p. 11, c. 4: Services for James Mordeau McDowell, 61, of Phoenix, who died Wednesday, will be held in Conger-Morris chapel Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. J. C. Arnett, Talent, officiating. Committal will be in Mountain View cemetery. Ashland. Pall bearers will be George E. Clark, George Demmer, Ralph E. Green, Jay B. Cochran, Frank Hamilton and Fred Bohn. Mr. McDowell was born April 25, 1890, in Union county, Oregon, and had lived in southern Oregon for the past 50 years. He lived in Lakeview for a time, then went to Ashland, where he attended Ashland Normal school. On Aug. 6, 1916, in Condon, Ore., he was married to Fay Etta Jones, who survives. Also surviving are a son, James C., Talent; a daughter, Mrs. Margrett E. Jones, Weatherford, Tex.; two brothers, W. Clark, Central Point; and Layton C., Talent; four sisters, Mrs. Ethel H. Widing, Sacramento; Mrs. Vi Ament, Medford; Mrs. Laura Bristow, Medford, and Lee McDowell, Jacksonville; and four grandchildren.
