V. MATTHEISEN TAKEN BY DEATH Arrangements were being made by the family today for the funeral of Bernard V. Mattheisen, a resident of Medford for the past two and a half years, who died in the Veterans' hospital in Portland early this morning. He had been in the hospital for treatment since the middle of January. Surviving are his wife, Hazel M., and five children, Larry Mattheisen, Medford; Bernard Ronald Mattheisen, with the U. S. army in England; Mrs. LaVerne Johnson, Medford; Mrs. Elmer Czech, Medford, and Mrs. Harriet Jones, Medford. Mr. Mattheisen, who had been employed as a mechanic by L. C. Taylor, Inc., resided at 344 North Ivy street. He will be buried here.
