Martin, aged 39 years. None can describe the heartfelt regret that prevailed throughout the entire community upon the announcement of the demise of Mrs. Martin - so sudden and yet not an entirely unexpected occurrence. How slender the threads that bind us to this terrestrial sphere! The living, but so recently in full enjoyment of health, is ruthlessly cut down in the flower of usefulness by the unsparing sickle of grim Death and departs unwarned to that "bourne from which no traveler returns." The subject of this obituary was one of the earliest residents of Jacksonville, arriving here in company with her mother, in 1853. An ideal woman, she was universally esteemed. Her mortal remains were followed to their last resting-place by a large concourse of sorrowing friends. She leaves a husband and several children to mourn her loss. "May she rest in peace."
