MARTIN DIES IN ASHLAND Ashland, April 11 - Edward James Martin, 54, a retired army man with 32 years service in this country and its overseas territories, died at his home in Ashland Monday. Funeral services have not been announced, but the Ashland post of the American Legion, of which he was a past commander, is planning military rites. Interment will be in the Mountain View cemetery. Mr. Martin was born in Chicago, Ill., June 7, 1889, and had been a resident of Jackson county for four years. He was a veteran of World War I. He was at Corregidor before Pearl Harbor was attacked, leaving there before war was declared. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Miriam Martin; three sons, all in the armed forces, Norris G. Martin in Honolulu, Edward J. Martin, Jr., in Souther Carolina, and Walter R. Martin in the Gilbert Islands; one daughter, Mirian Colleen Martin, in nurses' training in Portland, and three sisters in the eastern states.
