He had been ill but a short time and his death came as a shock to friends and relatives. Victor Hugo Lundberg was born in Missoula, Montana, in 1896. He was graduated from the graded schools of Kootmie, Idaho, in 1912, with the highest scholastic credits ever earned in that county. His first year of high school work was done at Sandpoint, Idaho, and he completed that course in Medford, Oregon, with the class of 1916. Here, too, Hugo won the highest honors thru [sic] the brilliancy of his intellect coupled with a sturdy honesty and unobtrusive kindness that made him as loved as he was respected by the members of the faculty and his fellow students. During Hugh’s high school career the members of his senior class chose him president; he held the position of student body president during his senior year; for two years he was captain of the school debating team; he played football for three years on the high school team and was chosen captain his last year; and he acted as manager of the class play. A fitting climax to his remarkable career was his election as class valedictorian. Since his graduation Hugo studied one year at the University of California, where he was known as one of the most popular freshmen of his class. His friends extend their deepest sympathy to his parents and brother in their bereavement. Funeral services will be held at the Weeks & McGowan chapel Saturday, Nov. 10, at 2 p. m. Rev. Frederick Carstens will officiate. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows cemetery.
