KARNES - John Everett, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. G. Karnes. Was born in Long Beach, Cal., June 6, 1910. Fell asleep in Jesus August 23, 1910, in Butte Falls, Or., aged 2 months and 17 days. Text, Mark 10:13-16. The little one has passed over, and taken possession of his inheritance, which our heavenly father had willed to him, and now enjoying the riches of father's house. A precious rosebud plucked from earth has gone to bloom in yonder sky; To us no one can tell its worth; oh, let us meet it by and by! A lesson God would have us learn, his blessed providence we own; By this he bids us here be firm and meet the child around his throne. 'Twas planted here by him whose love would draw our hearts to yonder shore; 'Twas taken to the courts above, where joys abound forever more; In yonder floral clime so far, its fragrance ever shall increase; No hand can pluck it over there; its angel voice shall never cease. Bright hope we cherish in our heart of meeting loved ones gone before; We wait with eagerness to start, when this short life on earth is o'er. Then let us say: "Thy will be done," and meekly bear this trial great; O Savior, leave us not alone, for help and grace on thee we wait.
