Howard, son of J. S. Howard, father of Medford, died at the Sacred Heart hospital at an early hour today. The funeral will be held at Weeks & McGowan's chapel Sunday afternoon at one o'clock, Rev. W. F. Shields officiating. Mr. Howard was born in Kewanee, Ill., March 30, 1858, and was aged 54 years, 10 months and fifteen days. When two years old he crossed the plains with his parents, J. S. and M. B. Howard locating in the Rogue river valley in 1860. He was well known to the pioneer families of Medford, being at one time assistant postmaster. He learned the printers trade when a boy and followed this until the past four years.
