Mary F. J. Holst died at the Granite City hospital at Ashland yesterday at the 
age of fifty six years. She was taken to the hospital for treatment Sunday 
from her home at Sams Valley. Her husband, Harry H. Holst, one son, John D. 
Holst, and one daughter, Mrs. Max Scholtz, all of Sams Valley, survive her. 
Mrs. Holst was born in Pommel, Germany, and has been a resident of the United 
States the past 52 years. Funeral arrangements are in charge of Perl’s 
undertaking company and services will be held at the family residence in Sams 
Valley Friday afternoon at 1:00 o’clock, with burial in the Sams Valley 
cemetery.
