How sad the parting moment! Oh how young, how tender, how innocent the life! How sad the vacant place in the home! We look at her little toys, we remember her prattling tongue from a babe, and when she was lowered in the dark vault to which all mankind is doomed, every childish act and deed of the dear departed one comes back to our memory. Life is but a vapor, though we live out our three score and ten, yet what a small space in eternity. We live, we hope, we die, we fill our little space in this life, we love, we cherish, we hope, we ask ourselves this question, shall we live again? In the dark hour of death, listening, love hears the rustle of wings; and when we remember the testimony of the angels of God, "He is not here but risen," how it cheats our heart! We look across the dark chasm, and see through an eye of faith, the parted one, and cherish the hope that ere long we shall meet again, and that around God's throne we shall spend eternity, where friends do not part and where sickness and death do not come. Juennesse Maria Lucretia Holst, at Eagle Point, Oregon, was born to Mr. and Mrs. John P. Holst on November 12, 1904, and died at Sam's Valley, Oregon, March 12, 1917. She was 12 years and four months old at the time of her death.
