Medford (Oregon) Mail Tribune, Friday, 25 Jan 1918, Ashland and Vicinity
Funeral services of the late John M. Hi[c]ks, who died on Tuesday, aged 81 
years, were held on Thursday, interment being in Ashland cemetery. The family 
home is at the corner of Morton street and Pennsylvania avenue. The deceased 
was a native of Ohio and came to Ashland in 1885. Diligent and industrious, he 
was possessed of many sterling qualities. He leaves two sons and one daughter, 
H. M. Hicks of Hood River, Ernest Hicks of Ashland, and Miss Blanche Hicks, 
city librarian.
