Mrs. Galey returned to Ashland, with her daughter, Miss Mabel Galey, from California about ten months ago. She was born in Elkader, Iowa, May 18, 1852 and was married to Smith Bernard Galey at Elkader in 1875. After living in Nebraska, and later in California, the family came to Ashland in 1884, since which time Ashland has been the family home, with the exception of intervals when the home was made in Portland and Los Angeles. Mrs. Galey was one of the pioneer members of the First Congregational church, had been active in the work of the church, Sunday school, and the Women's Christian Temperance Union. Mrs. Galey is survived by three children; Mabel C., Clarence L., and Henry C. Galey. A sister, Mrs. Orra Purdy of Houston, Texas, and two brothers, Ernest V. and Ray A. Carter also survive. Mr. S. B. Galey, the husband and father, died in May, 1892, at Ashland. One son, Ernest, and a daughter, Ethel, passed on some time ago. The funeral services will be held at the First Congregational church Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.
