J. FREDENBURG FUNERAL SERVICE ON WEDNESDAY Funeral services for W. J. Fredenburg who passed away in Grant's Pass yesterday will be held at Perl's Funeral Home Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wolford Dawes presiding. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows cemetery. Mr. Fredenburg was born at Silverton, April 17, 1871. For several years he served on the Medford fire department and police force, and was a member of Redmen Lodge. Survivors are his wife, Mary Fredenburg of Medford; sons, Fred Fredenburg of Temple City, Calif., William and Robert Fredenburg of Medford and Charles Fredenburg of Grant's Pass; daughters, Mrs. Gladys Wilcox and Mrs. Julia Young of Grant's Pass and Mrs. Minnie Fetty of Medford. There are also two brothers, Harmon Fredenburg of Medford and the Rev. Charlie Fredenburg of Talent; sisters, Mrs. Mary Leslie of Bonanza, Ore., and Mrs. Jane White of Detroit, Ore.; and a niece, Bessie Fredenburg of Medford. Medford (Oregon) Mail Tribune - May 5, 1944: LAST RITES HELD FOR FREDENBURG, PIONEER RESIDENT Funeral services for William Jackson Fredenburg, Medford resident who passed away April 29 in Josephine General hospital, were held Wednesday morning at Perl's Funeral Home in Medford with Rev. Dawes officiating. Burial followed in the Odd Fellows cemetery. Fredenburg was the son of Andrew Jackson Fredenburg and Susannah Pertle, natives of Kentucky who came across the plains by covered wagon and settled near Silverton in Marion county, Ore., where the boy was born April 22, 1871. Later they moved to Harrisburg in Linn county for a few years and then to Medford where they resided until their death. Early in life, Mr. Fredenburg became a member of the Methodist church. He was also a member of the Redmen lodge. One of the first volunteer firemen in the city, Fredenburg later served on the regular force for a number of years and then as a volunteer fireman again. He was a member of the Medford police force for twenty years. Fredenburg made his home at 1203 Niantic street in Medford, but was at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Wilcox in Grants Pass, when stricken by a paralytic stroke Friday and was removed to the hospital where he died the next day. He was 73 years of age at the time of death. In 1893 he was married to Mary Ann Peck of Medford, who survives him. Of their 10 children, those surviving are Fred Fredenburg of Temple City, Calif., William and Robert Fredenburg of Medford and Charles Fredenburg and Mrs. Wilcox of Grants Pass.
