He was 81 years old. The burial was today in the Oddfellows' Cemetery, following a short funeral service at the home, in charge of Rev. A. A. Holmes, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Mr. Fredenburg was born in Indiana in September 1830. When 18 years old, with Isaac and Dorcas Fredenburg, his parents, he went to Missouri. He was married to Susannah Thomas Pirtle in 1857, and in 1864, accompanied by four children, they crossed the plains, locating in Baker. They remained there one year and moved to the Willamette Valley, and in 1882 came to the Rogue River Valley. Two years afterwards, they moved to Medford. About ten years ago, Mrs. Fredenburg died. The surviving children are, James Isaac Fredenburg, Sam's Valley, Ore.; Mrs. Nancy J. White, Detroit, Ore.; Mrs. Mary C. Leslie, Medford; Mrs. Lucinda E. Lewis, Fossil, Ore.; Charles H. Fredenburg, Sam's Valley, Ore.; Mrs. Minnie M. Herring, Springfield, Ore.; William J. Fredenburg, Medford, and Harmon A. Fredenburg, Medford. OREGON TRAIL PIONEER DIES (Unknown newspaper and date) Andrew Jackson Fredenburg, Aged 81 Years, Who Crossed Continent With Family Over the Famous Oregon Trail, Passes Away at Home. With the death, Thursday afternoon Andrew Jackson Fredenburg, aged 81 years, at the family home at Tenth and Holly streets, another of the earliest settlers in the state of Oregon has passed away. The end came peacefully. The funeral, under the direction of the Weeks & McGowan company, will take place at the residence on Sunday, the Rev. A. A. Holmes officiating. Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F. cemetery. The deceased was born in Indiana on September 30, 1830, to Isaac and Dorcas Fredenburg. At the age of 18 he moved with his parents to Missouri and on March 18, 1857, was married to Susannah Thomas Pirtle. In 1864 with four children, the couple crossed the plains over the old Oregon Trail and later took up their residence in Baker City. They remained there one year and moved to the Willamette valley, and in 1882 established their home in the Rogue river valley. Two years later the family moved to Medford, where, about 10 years ago, Mrs. Fredenburg died. Mr. Fredenburg, who has long been a devoted Christian, was a member of the congregation of the Baptist church. He is survived by nine children namely: James Isaac Fredenburg, of Sam's valley; Mrs. Nancy J. White, of Detroit, Ore.; Mrs. Mary C. Leslie, Medford; Mrs. Lucinda E. Lewis, Fossil, Ore.; Charles H. Fredenburg, Sam's Valley; Mrs. Minnie M. Herring, Springfield, Ore.; William J. Fredenburg, Medford, and Harmon A. Fredenburg, Medford. Another, David E. Fredenburg, died in infancy.
