Foley. The deceased was born in Davenport, Iowa, June 13, 1868. His parents were of Irish descent and came to Iowa in the early days. Here he lived during his early years, later crossing the plains in the Sacramento valley and was engaged in the farming industry. Leaving his ranch in California, he came to Oregon where he purchased another ranch on Kanes creek southeast of Gold Hill, Here he was married to Alice Beale, who came across the plains with her parents from Missouri, and at that time was a resident of Butte Falls. The deceased had an attack of heart trouble last July and had been ailing ever since. He had been a hard worker all his life and when the time came that he couldn’t go any longer--rather than suffer to the last--ended his life. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Alice Foley and seven children, all whom are living: Frank J., Katherine, Margaret, William M., Harold A., Lester L., and Chester A. Besides the members of his own family he leaves two sisters and two brothers in Oklahoma and one sister in San Francisco. The deceased was a member of the Spring Valley I. O. O. F. lodge 316 of Arbuckle, Cal., the funeral tomorrow being in charge of the Gold Hill I. O. O. F.
