Medford (Oregon) Mail, Friday, 3 Aug 1900, City Happenings, p. 7, c. 1
Died-–In Medford, on Thursday, July 27th, of consumption, Mrs. S. I. Edwards, 
aged 24 years. Funeral services were held at the residence of S. G. Edwards on 
Friday, Rev. Crandall officiating. Interment was made in Odd Fellows cemetery. 
Deceased leaves two children, aged respectively two and five years. Mr. 
Edwards, husband of the deceased, died in California last January. There is a 
sad story to tell of these people. During the early part of last year symptoms 
of consumption were made manifest upon Mrs. Edwards and the husband at once 
sent her to friends in California, where it was thought the climate change 
would afford relief if not a cure, but instead of improving she grew worse and 
the husband was sent for. Soon after his arrival at the bedside of his invalid 
wife he was stricken with typhoid fever and died. His dying request was that 
the wife should, if possible, return to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. G. 
Edwards, in this city. This she did and since her coming her health gradually 
failed until death claimed her, leaving their orphan children to be taken care 
of by their grandparents. The grandparents are a very nice couple, and very 
respectable, honest people, and the children will be well cared for.

Odd Fellows Cemetery Index lists a Laura B Edwards with burial date of 26 July 
1900; this may be the same person. No marker; no dates of birth or death are 
given.
