Howard G. Eddy, pastor of the First Presbyterian church in Ashland since November of 1941, who died in the U. S. Veterans' hospital in Portland at 4 a.m. Tuesday, will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. from the A. J. Rose chapel in Portland. Officiating will be Dr. Morgan Odell, president of Lewis and Clark college, Portland. The remains will be cremated. Memorial services for the Rev. Eddy will be held in the Ashland Presbyterian church at 3 p.m. next Sunday, the Rev. Harry Hansen, pastor of the First Methodist church in Medford, officiating. The Rev. Eddy, who had not been well in several years, was a submarine chief petty officer in World War I and later was religious and social work secretary for the Y.M.C.A., serving in Bremerton, Wash., Los Angeles and San Diego. While in Ashland he was active in American Legion affairs and spent much time helping compile a list of men from that part of the county who have entered the armed forces. Surviving are his wife and daughter, Virginia, a freshman at Lewis and Clark college.
