Mrs. Dowden was born in Kentucky in 1825, and came to Linn county, Oregon, in 1867. In 1869 she moved with her husband, the late Joseph Dowden, to Jackson county, and located on the homestead, which has become so familiar as the "old Dowden place," and which was her home until the time of her death.
