She had made several previous attempts at suicide before being committed to the institution here. She leaves a husband and four children. Medford (Oregon) Mail Tribune, Wednesday, 1 Jul 1925, p. 2 LOCAL AND PERSONAL, p. 2-The body of Mrs. Mary Dericks [sic] of the Eagle Point district, who committed suicide yesterday at the state hospital for the insane at Salem, arrived in the city pending the arrangement of the obsequies and interment, which are elsewhere announced in this paper. DERRICK-Mary Jane Derrick passed away at Salem, Ore., aged 40 years, four months and six days. She was born at O'Neil, Nebraska, Feb. 24, 1885. The family recently moved back to Jackson county about eleven months ago where they had been former residents. Frank B. Derrick was married to Mary Patten at battle Creek, Nebraska, April 23, 1904, and to this union were born five daughters and three sons, Mary, Louise, Lucile, Esther, and Agnes; John, Joseph and Francis, all at home. Also survived by her husband Frank, one sister, Mrs. Joe Poole, Butte Falls, Ore., and two brothers, Clarence and Charles. The funeral services will be held at the Catholic church Friday at 10 a.m., Rev. Father Black officiating. Interment in Medford cemetery. Funeral arrangements in charge of the Perl Funeral Home.
