She leaves two sons and two daughters, besides a number of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. Medford (Oregon) Mail, Friday, 26 Oct 1900, City Happenings, p. 7, c. 5 Grandma Dean, mother of Ralph, Brad and Robert Dean, died at her home in Willow springs precinct, on Wednesday of this week. Funeral services will be held at Jacksonville today (Friday) at 11 o’clock. Deceased was over seventy years of age and a pioneer of Southern Oregon. She was buried in the Jacksonville Cemetery on Friday last. Scraps of History. Mrs. Anna Dean, who died at the family residence at Willow Springs, Wednesday night, October 24th, was the first white woman married in Rogue river valley. The Willow Springs place taken up by her husband, the late N. C. Dean, was the first donation land claim located in the valley. Mr. Dean planted the first orchard and raised the first peaches and apples grown in the valley...
